More Than One Million uBid Customers Gain Access to Free Snapfish.com Photo Service
CHICAGO and SAN FRANCISCO - May 22, 2000 - uBid.com, a leading e-commerce and auction site and a majority-owned operating company of CMGI, Inc., and Snapfish.com, the only photo service that offers free photo developing, printing, scanning and online sharing, today announced a marketing and e-commerce strategic partnership.
The agreement is designed to increase consumer awareness for both uBid and Snapfish.com through a variety of joint offerings. First, uBid and Snapfish.com will develop a co-branded website where uBid-referred customers can easily view their online photo albums. Second, Snapfish.com will offer its free processing service to uBid auction bidders of photography and related products available through uBid. In addition, customers who purchase products at uBid will receive a co-branded Snapfish.com postage-paid envelope to mail in their 35 mm film. Snapfish.com offers uBid customers free photo processing, a service that typically costs between $10-15 for each roll of film processed in traditional outlets.
"The co-branded services will enable uBid to expand its brand awareness and alert customers to our latest product offerings through an alternative online gateway," said Clara Williams, general manager of business development for uBid.com. "In addition, Snapfish's welcome kits represent a new offline advertising channel that leverages our product distribution capabilities."
Suneet Wadhwa, co-founder, and vice president, business development of Snapfish.com said, "Snapfish.com's relationship with uBid will build awareness of the Snapfish service among uBid's more than one million registered users. Snapfish is looking forward to providing uBid's savvy brand-conscious customers with quality Kodak prints and negatives for free."
Snapfish.com is positioned to dramatically redefine the consumer photography market by providing the first complete photo service that offers film developing, printing, storing and sharing online, all for free.
