One of the most creative ways to customize a photo book is to create your very own recipe photo book. Think of it as a lovely document of all those tasty meals during family gatherings or create a collection of your favorite recipes using your own great photos. Whether you make one for yourself or a loved one, it’ll make you feel like grabbing that apron and saucepan to cook up something delicious and comforting.
All in the Family
The family that cooks together stays together! Scan in Grandma’s handwritten recipes and place them alongside photos of her or the dishes (or her holding the dishes!).
Type in your recipes using the text editor. It’s as easy as pie!
You could also create a book of recipes that compiles all of your beloved family recipes (get everyone to contribute). This makes for a particularly meaningful family activity and reason to reach out to relatives near and far.

How to structure your recipe book
For the collection of family recipes, consider putting them in chronological order (the age of the recipe). You could also organize the recipes according to categories, e.g. appetizers, mains, desserts.
A basic recipe layout should include…
- Title of recipe
- Cooking time
- Number of servings
- Introduction
- Equipment/tools needed
- Ingredients and measurements
- Cooking steps (the more detailed, the better)
- How to serve
- Family/Pro tips
If you can include photos of the various stages of preparation and cooking, your photo recipe book will be that much more useful!
Remember to proof-read the text before you order your book! Pay extra special attention to the recipes, especially your weights and measurements. Be sure to clearly distinguish ‘tbsp’ from ‘tsp’. And try to be as consistent as possible with your chosen units of measurement, e.g. cups or lbs.
