Common Questions About Film Developing
Trouble with Film Developing

Overview
After you set up a Snapfish account, you'll receive a Snapfish Welcome Kit within 3 - 5 business days. Your Welcome Kit will contain:
  • Free, postage-paid film mailers
  • Film ID labels
  • An order form (You can also print your own order form, here.)
First, fill out the order form, indicating what size prints, and how many, you'd like. Then, use the mailers and ID labels to send us your film. (Follow the exact instructions below.) After we develop your film, we'll send back your prints and negatives.
During the film developing process, we also scan your negatives to create digital copies of your photos. We then place this in your Snapfish account online. You can view them, share them, and order reprints and enlargements.

Types of film we develop:
  • All brands of 35mm color print film and APS/Advantix film, including Seattle Filmworks (Photoworks) film.
  • All brands of single-use cameras that use 35mm film or APS/Advantix film.
We don't develop black-and-white film, slide film or single-use cameras that use these types of film. Note: While we accept international credit cards and we can ship other orders internationally, we do not develop film-roll orders for users who live outside of the United States.

How to Send in Film
The safest, most secure way to send your film to us is to use a Snapfish, postage-paid film mailer. We use extra-strong materials in our mailers that are tear- and water-resistant. You can leave the film in its canister or put the roll itself into the Snapfish film mailer. Each mailer can hold up to four rolls of film.

If you haven't provided us with your mailing address yet, we'll need it to send you your free, postage-paid film mailers.
  • If you already have a Snapfish account, log in and click on 'send film' in the upper yellow box on the homepage. Then click get mailers. Enter your mailing address, then click on the yellow 'get mailers' button near the bottom of the page.
  • If you've never created a Snapfish account, go to www.snapfish.com and click on the yellow 'sign up free!' button to register. More info on signing up.
If you're using a mailing label and order form that you printed from the Snapfish website, we recommend using a padded envelope (6x9 inches or larger) to send in your film. Use a sturdy box if you're sending in many rolls. This will help ensure that your film arrives safely.

Film developing options
Each mailer comes with an order form that gives you the following options:
  • Glossy or matte finish on your prints (35mm film only)
  • For 35mm film: 3.5 x 5", 4 x 6" or 5 x 7" prints
    • For APS film: We will automatically provide prints in the sizes specified on your roll (4x6(C), 4x7(H), 4x10(P))
  • Doubles of your prints
  • Photo CD-ROM
  • Kodak Film
    • Kodak Gold 100 (24 exposures)
    • Kodak Gold 200 (24 exposures)
    • Kodak Max 400 (24 exposures)
See the Snapfish pricing info page for the cost of these items.

How to use Snapfish mailers
  1. Put a film ID label on each roll of film. (You can put up to 4 rolls of film in one mailer.)
  2. Fill out the film developing options order form. Put an address label on the order form, or fill in your email address. Make sure to fill in your credit card info if the order form asks for it.
  3. Put your labeled film and order form inside the Snapfish postage-paid film mailer.
  4. Stick one of the return address labels on the upper left corner of the mailer. Seal it and drop it in the mail. Snapfish pays for the postage!
Once we receive your order, we'll send you an acknowledgement via email and post your photos online within 1-2 business day. Please allow 5-8 business days for your prints and negatives to arrive.

If you have film to send in now
If you don't want to wait to receive your postage-paid film mailers and ID labels in the mail, you can print out a postage-paid label and order form from the Snapfish website. Snapfish still pays the postage! To print a mailing label:
  1. Log in to your Snapfish account.
  2. Click on the 'get mailers' link on the home page or click on the "your account" link and click on 'print a label' near the top of the page.
  3. If you haven't already, fill in your mailing address and credit card info, your card will not be charged unless you send us film.
  4. Print out the page on your printer.
  5. Cut out the label and order form.
  6. Follow the step-by-step instructions on your printed page to send in your film.
If you're using a printed label from the Snapfish website, we recommend using a padded envelope (6x9 inches or larger) to send in your film. Use a sturdy box if you're sending in many rolls. Use clear tape to attach the postage label to the front of the envelope, and write your return address on the outside of the envelope. In addition, please label each roll of film with your return address.

Common Questions About Film Developing
Do you develop APS or Advantix film?
Yes, we develop any brand of APS/Advantix film, including Seattle Filmworks (Photoworks) film. We also develop any brand of single-use camera that contains APS/Advantix film.

How many mailers will I receive?
When you sign up with Snapfish, we'll send you 1 free postage-paid film mailer and one sheet of personal film ID labels; you'll get 2 more every time you order more mailers by clicking on 'get mailers' on the Snapfish website. (To 'get mailers,' first click 'send film' in the upper right corner of your homepage.) We'll also send you 1 mailer and another sheet of personal ID labels with every set of prints.

How many rolls of film can I put in a Snapfish mailer?
You can put up to 4 rolls of film or 1 single-use camera in each mailer. If you have many rolls of film to send in, we suggest printing a postage-paid mailing label from the Snapfish website and placing it on a strong padded envelope or box. This will ensure that all of your film arrives safely at the same time.

Do I need to add postage?
No, Snapfish mailers and labels are postage-paid. If, however, you are using your own envelope or box, you will need to add postage.

How much do mailers cost?
Nothing! They're free.

Can I send mailers to a friend?
Just have your friends register on the site, and we'll send them a Snapfish Welcome Kit with free postage-paid film mailers and film ID labels that they can use to send in film. Through our 'Tell a Friend' program, you can get free prints for each referral.

Do I need to give you my credit card info every time I send in film?
If you've already supplied your credit card info, then you don't need to provide it again. We store it securely in your account, so that the next time you send in film, you won't need to include it.

If you need to update the credit card info that's on file in your account (change expiration date, billing zip, or enter a different card), you can do this online by clicking on the "your account" link near the top of most pages, and then clicking on 'edit personal info'.

I live outside of the U.S. Can I place an order on Snapfish?
While we accept international credit cards and we can ship other orders internationally, we do not develop film-roll orders for users who live outside of the United States.

Trouble with Film Developing
Problem: Please do the following:
You haven't received your mailers. If you haven't received your Snapfish film mailers within 21 business days, please request more mailers from the site. Just click on 'send film' in the top right corner of your homepage. Then click 'get mailers.'
You haven't received your prints in the mail. Original Prints:
Normally, your full set of prints and negatives will arrive via the U.S. Postal Service within 5-10 business days after developing is completed, but sometimes the U.S. Postal Service does experience delays.

To keep you informed of your order status, we send you an email once we receive your film, when your print and negatives ship, and when your photos are available for viewing online.

If you have additional questions about your order status, please visit the order status and history section.
Reprints:

We ship your order within 2-3 business days after you place it. We ship via First Class mail; they typically arrive within 5-8 business days. Please note that there are occasional U.S. postal service delays. If you haven't received your reprints within 14 business days, please use our Order Status form to contact customer support.
You can't see your photos online yet. After we receive your film, your photos are normally posted to your Snapfish account within 1-2 business day. Once they're online, we'll send you an email. If you have additional questions about the status of your order, visit the order status and history section.
One or more photos is missing. Occasionally, the printing machine decides a negative isn't good enough to produce a quality print. If a print was missing from your order, please contact Customer Support.
You didn't receive your film or CD-Rom with your prints. Merchandise is sent via First Class Mail and shipped separately from your prints and negatives. Delays in the postal system are not uncommon, so we ask that you wait until at least 10 business days have passed since shipment. If you still haven't received your order, please contact Customer Support.

Other merchandise, such as photo greeting cards and cameras, are always shipped separately from your Snapfish merchandise. They are sent to you directly from our partners. More info on our partners.
You got your merchandise without your prints. We send out merchandise, such as film, from Photo CD-ROMs and prints. All products in a film developing order are shipped out the same day, however they may arrive at different times in the mail due to delays in the U.S. Postal Service.
Your labels have the wrong information. You can either make the changes yourself right on the Snapfish website, or you can contact customer support for assistance.
If your email address is incorrect:

Please contact Customer Support immediately. Include the incorrect email address, your correct email address, as well as your Snapfish 10-digit customer ID number, which is located above your return address on the address labels that are sent with your film mailers.
If your name or address is incorrect:

You can edit your account info by clicking on the "your account" link near the top of most pages. Then click on 'edit personal info.' After you've made your changes, we recommend clicking on the 'send film' button at the top right of the home page, and then clicking on 'get mailers' to request more mailers and corrected ID labels. Please note that you can still send in film right after you make these changes. Any prints or negatives we send will go the address on file with your account, which you recently updated.
There are mistakes on the order form. If you've made a mistake on your order form, just Log In to your Snapfish account and print another one, Click 'send film' in the upper right of your homepage, and then click 'print label.' Be sure to include the completed order form when you send in film.
Forgot to fill out the order form? If you forgot to fill out the order form with your developing choices, we'll automatically provide you with a set of 4x6 prints with a glossy finish. Please note that we can't change your film developing options after you send in your film. If you didn't include your name or return address on the mailer or on any of your rolls of film, please contact Customer Support immediately.
